Pogba reacts to derby win over City

Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba has revealed that he was determined to prevent Manchester City from clinching the title during the derby at the Etihad Stadium.

Pogba scored a stellar brace during a 3-2 comeback win against the Citizens, and following the game, he said that allowing their rivals to lift the crown under their noses would have been 'like death'.

He told Sky Sports News: "I didn't want to lose against City, the loss from last season is still in my mind. If they won they are champions, for all the fans it would be like death.

"To lose against City and to see them celebrate, I couldn't let that happen. At half time in the dressing room we said we have nothing to lose, 2-0 let's make it."

Pogba has received plenty of stick from the United faithful owing to his average performances over the past month, but he more than made for it with two goals in the space of two second-half minutes.

Like Pogba, Chris Smalling redeemed himself with a powerful header which turned out to be the winner, and United can now look forward to ending the league campaign on a high.

Manchester United are now on 71 points for the Premier League season, four ahead of third-placed Liverpool, who have played an additional league game than them.
