Manchester United are reportedly close to reaching an agreement with goalkeeper David de Gea over a new long-term contract. The Spain international is currently contracted to the Mancunian giants until the summer of 2019.

According to The Sun, United are prepared to reward De Gea with a fresh £350,000-a-week contract and this would supposedly make him the second-highest paid player at the club behind only Alexis Sanchez.

De Gea has had another stunning season in the Red Devils shirt this term and this has witnessed his inclusion in the PFA Team of the Year for the fourth year on the bounce.

As a result, United are eager to sort out his situation prior to the summer World Cup with Real Madrid still said to be monitoring the Spaniard's developments at Old Trafford.

Manchester United had a relatively good game against Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday as they progressed to the final of the FA Cup and this remains their sole opportunity to win silverware this season.
