Roma director of football Monchi has clarified that Liverpool have yet to make an official approach for goalkeeper Alisson Becker this summer.

The Brazil international has been heavily tipped to join the Reds over the past few weeks with reports suggested that the club could make him the most-expensive goalkeeper in the world.

Despite this, Monchi has insisted that there has been no communication with the Reds regarding the shot-stopper and transfer rumours are 'normal' at this stage of the calendar year.

"In order for a player to leave, there have to be three elements in place - an offer, a yes from the club and from the player. As of today, we have nothing of the sort. We are happy to keep him, transfer rumours are normal at this stage," he is quoted as saying at an awards evening.

Alisson, who has another three years left on his Roma contract, is expected to start between the sticks for Brazil when they feature in this summer's World Cup finals in Russia.

The 25-year-old has amassed 24 caps with the national side since making his debut in 2015 and he will be aiming to showcase his qualities at the global tournament. Real Madrid are also said to hold an interest in Alisson.
