Fred on cusp of United transfer

Brazil midfielder Fred has reportedly reported to Manchester United's Carrington training complex ahead of his proposed move from Shakhtar Donetsk.

The 25-year-old was a late substitute in Brazil's 2-0 win over Croatia at Anfield yesterday and he has since been permitted to leave the country's camp to finalise his United move.

According to Sky Sports News, the midfielder has reported to the club's training centre to finalise his medical before putting pen-to-paper on an initial four-year contract.

The Brazilian is due to become the club's first signing of the summer transfer window and he is likely to cost an initial sum of around £52m from Shakhtar.

Meanwhile, United are also reported to be closing in on the signing of Diogo Dalot from Porto. The Portuguese is said to have already arrived in England and the club are expected to speed up the transfer progress.

Dalot presently has a £17.5m release clause in his contract which would become active on June 30 but United are prepared to pay an additional £1.5m fee to push through the deal at an earlier date.
