Bundesliga defender to undergo Arsenal medical
Borussia Dortmund defender Sokratis Papastathopoulos is reportedly on the cusp of sealing his proposed switch to Arsenal.
The Greece international has strongly been tipped to join the Gunners over the past few weeks, and according to Kicker, he is now on course to undero a medical.
The north London side are said to have already agreed personal terms with the former Werder Bremen centre-back and the move is likely to be finalised following the medical procedure this week.
Papastathopoulous is expected to become Unai Emery's first signing as the Gunners boss and this could soon be followed by the signing of Stephan Lichtsteiner from Juventus.
The Swiss right-back has recently indicated that he has yet to agreed on a deal to join the Gunners but the move appears pretty much done with the defender visiting the club's training base last week.
Papastathopoulos is likely to join the Gunners for a reported fee of around £17.5m after he decided against extending his Dortmund contract beyond June 2019.
