Liverpool boss talks up Daniel Sturridge's form
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has stressed that he has full faith on Daniel Sturridge ahead of the opening league game against West Ham United.
The England international appeared destined to leave the Reds after a failed loan spell with West Ham United but the striker has managed to change the manager's mindset with a strong pre-season.
Sturridge contributed six goals and two assists for the Reds during the recent pre-season campaign and Klopp is now hoping that the marksman can replicate his form without being struck down by an injury.
"I can't remember a bad game from him in the pre-season, to be honest. That's absolutely good," he told in a pre-match press conference, quoted by The Mirror.
"I said it probably 500 times already: if Daniel is fit, nobody doubts Daniel. So, I do not. He is here in a good shape and hopefully he can bring that into the season as well."
As things stand, Sturridge has under a year left on his existing contract but Klopp has reaffirmed that he is interested in prolonging the stay of the former Manchester City graduate.
Liverpool start their Premier League campaign with a home fixture against West Ham United and the match is certain to attract plenty of interest with both teams strengthening their squads sufficiently during the transfer window.
