Almiron set for Arsenal move

Arsenal are said to have won the race to sign Paraguayan attacker Miguel Almiron from Atlanta United during the winter transfer window.

Almiron has been regularly linked with the Gunners over the past few months after contributing an impressive tally of 12 goals and 13 assist in the current MLS season.

In a report covered by The Sun, Atlanta's president Darren Eales has confirmed that the attacker would be heading to England and it is now suggested that the Gunners are the player's expected destination.

The 24-year-old has not had any taste of European football since graduating through the youth ranks at Cerro Porteno but the Gunners seem to have moved for his signature amid the uncertainty surrounding Ramsey's future.

Ramsey's future has been in a contract standoff with the north London giants over the past year and reports now indicate that talks over an extension have seemingly ended, though his contract expires at the end of the season.
