Arsenal want Porto captain to replace Aaron Ramsey
Arsenal are reportedly looking into a winter deal for Porto skipper Hector Herrera after giving up on extending the contract of midfielder Aaron Ramsey.
Ramsey has been influential towards the Gunners' trophy success in the past four years but decade-long stay appears to be coming to an end with his contract expiring in nine months' time.
According to Evening Standard, the north London giants have reached a deadend with regards to Ramsey's extension and they are now likely to sanction his sale in either January or risk losing him on a free next summer.
Amidst this, the club are said to have already begun the search for a replacement with Mexico international Herrera apparently topping their wishlist for the winter transfer window.
Like Ramsey, Herrera has less than a year left on his remaining deal with Porto but the Gunners can expect tough competition for his signature with Real Madrid also linked with him during the summer.
