Tottenham are closing in on Carlos Kameni and is reportedly agreed on a deal worth 4.5M pounds with Espanyol. Paul Robinson will see his place in the squad come under threat.

Idriss Carlos Kameni is likely to be the new Spurs number one replacing the Englishman Paul Robinson.

Juande Ramos who had stiff competition from Manchester United had been able to beat them in signing the Cameroon international. Reports say that Tottenham have agreed on a 4.5M pound deal to sign the Espanyol goalkeeper.

The 24-year old is still to agree personal terms with Spurs before signing on a three-year contract.

A source of the Telegraph in link with the player's agent, said "hey are now negotiating a deal. There is hope that it will end positively."

Carlos Kameni have the honour of being the youngest footballer to win an Olympic gold medal in 2000, when he was 16 years old. Espanyol signed him in 2004 and from then he was the first choice keeper. He won the Copa del Rey in 2006 with Espanyol. He has also won the award for best African goal-keeper in 2006-07

Kameni may not be the only one Ramos signs before the start of the next season. Cerny's contract has not been renewed and Paul Robinson has failed to convince Ramos that he deserves to be the first team custodian. A second goal keeper is also being scouted. Reports say that former Real Madrid Castilla gem Diego Lopez would be the target.

Lopez now plays for Villareal who are enjoying a great run in the La Liga. He has shown enough potential but the price tag of 4M pounds would be something that Ramos want to think about again.

Ramos might off-load full-back Lee Young-Pyo and would be looking forward to sign a commanding center-back. Daniel Jarque, another Espanyol player, is first in the list as a long term venture and is more likely to partner Jonathan Woodgate in the back.
