Everton agree stadium move
Everton agree stadium move
Everton's fans have voted overwhelmingly in favour of a move to a new stadium outside of Liverpool to nearby Kirkby. 75 per cent of voters made the effort to vote, and of this 60 per cent agreed to the new stadium move.
Everton have been looking for a new home for several years, and 3 years ago Everton's plans for a stadium at King's Dock were rejected.
Opponents of the plans have vowed to continue the fight to keep the club within the city boundaries, and a spokesman from the Keep Everton in Our City group said, "That makes me sad as an Evertonian. There is still a long campaign ahead because public opinion in Kirkby against a football stadium is growing."
Everton are one of the only clubs to have given the fans a vote to decide whether or not to move grounds, and even chairman Bill Kenwright only had one vote.
