Manchester United open talks to sign Ligue 1 midfielder?

Manchester United have reportedly joined Manchester City in the race to sign Youri Tielemans from AS Monaco during this summer's transfer window.

The Belgian had an impressive loan stint with Leicester City during the backend of the Premier League campaign where he contributed directly to seven goals from 13 appearances.

As such, he has captured the attention of the likes of City and HLN journalist Kristof Terreur claims that the Red Devils are prepared to rival their cross-town rivals for the player's signature. 

The Old Trafford outfit are understood to have made initial contact with the player's representatives and reports indicate that Monaco would be willing to cash in to the highest bidder this summer.

Tottenham Hotspur and Leicester have also been linked with a permanent move for the young midfielder but they stand a lesser chance of pursuing the Belgian amid the interest from the Mancunian giants.

Tielemans currently has three years remaining on his Monaco deal.
