United prioritise centre-back signing over Fernandes

Manchester United have reportedly stalled on the negotiations for midfielder Bruno Fernandes with manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer prioritising the signing of a new central defender.

Fernandes has been heavily linked with the Premier League giants in the past few weeks following a tremendous season with Sporting, where he bagged 32 goals and 18 assists across all competitions.

According to A Bola, the club are likely to slow down the discussions for Fernandes, considering Solskjaer wants to strengthen the heart of the backline at the earliest possibility.

The Red Devils have recently contacted Fiorentina regarding a potential move for Nikola Milenkovic but Leicester City's Harry Maguire is still said to be the prime target for the current transfer window.

The Mancunian giants have already failed with £65m and £70m bids for the central defender but reports indicate that they are actively pursuing the 26-year-old as they are not far off from meeting the asking price of the Foxes.
