Liverpool to sign ex-Premier League goalkeeper?
Liverpool goalkeeping coach John Achterberg has opened the possibility of the club signing Michel Vorm on a short-term contract with Alisson Becker sidelined for a considerable period of time.
Alisson picked up a calf injury during the opening game of the league season against Norwich City and he has since been replaced by deputy shot-stopper Adrian between the sticks.
As such, veteran goalkeeper Andy Lonergan has been recently signed to take up the back-up role behind Adrian, but Achterberg has acknowledged that there are discussions over a short-term move for Vorm.
"A good third goalie at a top club is not a superfluous luxury, I have always said. The arrival of Vorm has been discussed," he was quoted as saying by Dutch outlet NOS.
Vorm, 35, spent the past five seasons with Tottenham Hotspur, where he made 47 appearances. He is currently a free agent following his release by the north London side in July.
