Frank Lampard speaks on N'Golo Kante's fitness ahead of Southampton clash
Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has indicated that the fitness of N'Golo Kante will be assessed in the lead up to the Premier League clash against Southampton on the road.
Kante missed the previous league game against Brighton & Hove Albion with a minor hamstring concern but he was able to recover in time for the midweek Champions League clash where he played through the entire 90 minutes.
Speaking in a press conference on Friday, Lampard revealed that Kante has remained unscathed from the recent encounter and he will take a decision on whether the Frenchman will feature at St Mary's on Sunday.
"In terms of the injury, he is fine. There is no fall out from that from the game. It is just making sure he is fit and ready and that’s a call for myself," he was quoted as saying by the Blues' official website.
Chelsea are currently lying in the seventh spot in the league table with 11 points on the board. They are just one point adrift of Arsenal, who are presently occupying the final Champions League qualification spot.
