Real Madrid are reportedly planning a surprise move for Arsenal striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in January with manager Zinedine Zidane concerned with the club's limited threat on goal.

The Madrid giants have struggled for goals during the opening phase of the campaign and they have netted just 14 times from nine matches across all competitions.

According to Don Balon, Zidane is keen on pursuing an experienced marksman at the turn of the year with summer signing Luka Jovic yet to make an impression upfront.

It is added that Aubameyang is the leading target on their radar and it is indicated that a package of around £53.3m could be sufficient to lure the Gabonese from the Gunners.

Aubameyang has been a huge hit since joining the Gunners from Borussia Dortmund in January 2018 and he is currently on 49 goals from just 73 games across all competitions.

His current deal with the club expires at the end of next season and they are said to be desperate to extend his contract by another three years at the least with a bumper payrise.
