United end van de Beek interest

Manchester United have reportedly ended their interest in signing midfielder Donny van de Beek due to the staggering transfer demands of Ajax.

The Netherlands international has been a key performer for Ajax over the past 14 months and he helped the club reach the Champions League semi-finals last term.

As a result, he has been regularly linked with a move away from Amsterdam and United have been credited with an interest alongside Real Madrid, Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain.

However, according to The Mirror, the Red Devils have decided against continuing their pursuit of the Dutchman with Ajax likely to demand as much as £100m for the midfielder's sale next summer.

The same publication claims that the Red Devils were previously offered with the chance to sign the midfielder for just £35m and they are reluctant to spend a sizeable chunk of their transfer kitty on Van de Beek next year.

Van de Beek has been heavily linked with a winter move to Real Madrid of late but he has clearly indicated that he won't leave Ajax at the midway stage of the season.
