Manchester United boss states reason behind Bournemouth defeat
Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has said that the Red Devils players gave their everything during the 1-0 Premier League defeat to Bournemouth on Saturday.
The Red Devils started the game on a positive note at the Vitality Stadium but they failed to make the most of the opportunities with Andreas Pereira and Fred fluffing their lines.
Eventually, a defensive mistake between Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Victor Lindelof permitted Josh King to find the net for the Cherries before the break and the scoreline remained the same for the entire game.
Speaking after the defeat, Solskjaer said that his team gave their utmost during the closing stages of the contest and the lack of quality in the final third was the prime reason behind the result.
"It's a test of character when you come down to places like this; 1-0 down, half-time. I thought the response second half, at least we went for it. We didn't stop trying but it was the lack of quality that couldn't give us the point or three," he told Sky Sports.
With the loss, the Red Devils have dropped to the 10th position in the league standings. They could fall into the bottom half of the standings, should Tottenham Hotspur register a victory over Everton on the road.
