United extend Ighalo's loan deal

Manchester United have officially confirmed that they have extended the loan contract of Odion Ighalo until January 30 after reaching an agreement with Shanghai Shenhua.

The Nigeria international was originally due to leave the Red Devils at the end of May but both the club and the striker were keen on prolonging his stay until the conclusion of the current campaign.

However, the club have done better to extend his temporary contract until the end of January next year and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has expressed his delight over the deal.

"They [Shanghai Greenland Shenhua] have been great towards us, allowing him to play for his dream club. It’s been a dream for him and hopefully he can finish what he started and win a trophy with us," he told the club's official website.

Ighalo has bagged four goals and one assist from eight outings for United. Each of his contributions have come in the Cup competitions where he has made all of his three starts.

With his contract extended, Ighalo has the dream of playing for United for another seven months and he has the chance of winning potential silverware in the form of the FA Cup or Europa League this term.
