Arsenal favourites to sign La Liga midfielder

Arsenal are reportedly ahead of AC Milan and Everton in the race to sign Marc Roca during this summer's transfer window.

The Spaniard was on the club's radar last summer but they eventually opted to land the signature of Daniel Ceballos on a season-long loan from Real Madrid.

Ceballos has since experienced a decent campaign with the Gunners but he has not impressed sufficiently for the club to consider his permanent stay.

According to La Razon, the club are likely to retain their interest in Roca with manager Mikel Arteta said to be a keen admirer of the midfielder's talents.

The 23-year-old currently has a £35m release clause in his contract at Espanyol but the Gunners are confident of signing him for a lesser price, particularly with the La Liga outfit facing the prospect of relegation.

Everton and AC Milan have also been credited with an interest in the former Spain youth international but it is claimed that the Gunners have the edge, having opened talks with Espanyol before the COVID-19 shutdown.
