Manchester United have reportedly opened negotiations with AS Monaco as they seek to negotiate a summer move for Benoit Badiashile.

The Frenchman made 20 appearances for the Principality outfit last term and his progress has caught the eye of several European sides.

Bayer Leverkusen and AC Milan have been linked with him in recent weeks, but TF1 claims that neither have met the asking price set by Monaco for his services.

In the meantime, the Red Devils are understood to have initiated talks with Niko Kovac's side and it remains to be seen whether they will meet the £14m plus price tag for the centre-back.

Badiashile has represented Monaco 46 times since his debut in November 2018. He is currently contracted to the club until June 2024 and hence, they are in a good position to ignore cut-price proposals.

United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is keen on adding competition for places in the central defence. He is not entirely pleased with the displays of Victor Lindelof alongside Harry Maguire.
