Mikel Arteta updates on Alexandre Lacazette's contract situation

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has revealed that the club have yet to open negotiations with Alexandre Lacazette regarding a new contract.
The Frenchman had a disappointing 2019/2020 season for the Gunners and he netted only 12 times across all competitions.
He has, however, started the current campaign in fine form with goals in back-to-back games against Fulham and West Ham United.
Lacazette currently has less than two years remaining on his contract, but Arteta has revealed that the club have yet to start talks over a renewal.
He added that the main focus remains in the transfer market with the possibility of making more signings before next month's deadline.
"We haven't started any negotiations. We have a lot of things still to do in this market and at the moment we are focusing on those things," He told.
"He's a player I'm really happy with. I think we've shown him a lot of faith since I arrived here. But we cannot start any speculation."
Eddie Nketiah netted a late winner coming off the bench against West Ham United and he could earn a starting spot for the midweek Cup game.
The Gunners are scheduled to face Leicester City on the road in the third round of the Carabao Cup on Wednesday night.
