Hughes: Liverpool deserved it
Blackburn boss admitted that Liverpool deserved to win 3-1 in today's match at Anfield, but also revealed he was disappointed that they allowed the Reds the opportunity to convert individual errors to goals.
âThere was not a great deal created by either team in the first half if we are honest. Liverpool didnât really put us under any concerted pressure during that opening period,â the Rovers manager said.
âBut in the second half we came out and felt there was something in the game for us, but the first goal was poor from our point of view.
"We had chances to address the situation and nip it in the bud, but we allowed poor passes and mistimed challenges to allow Gerrard through, and one-on-one with the goalkeeper you always suspect that he is going to take the chance which he obviously did.
âIn fairness to Liverpool today I thought they worked extremely hard and closed down spaces and as a consequently they force errors and they are able to convert the chances as the consequences of those errors, and that is what happened with the last two goals, which I didnât think gave a true reflection of the game.
âBut at the end of the day we havenât done enough going the other way to deserve something out of the game.â
