Mesut Ozil set for shock Real Madrid return?
Mesut Ozil has been linked with a return to Spain and to his former club Real Madrid, with the former Germany international stating that he is ready to stay put at Arsenal for the remainder of his contract, which still has around 10 months to run. Ozil is currently earning around £300,000 per week at the Emirates Stadium but has been informed he will not be a part of the club's Europa League squad this week.
Ozil, who has been informed that he is surplus to requirements at the club by manager Mikel Arteta, has been linked with a return to Real Madrid in surprise news this week.
It is understood that the player could be released from his Arsenal contract on a free transfer, to enable the German to make the move to Spain and link up with Zinedine Zidane.
Ozil has previously hinted that he would like to finish his career in Spain and with Real Madrid. The midfielder has always enjoyed a positive relationship with the fans of the Bernabeu club, and thus a move back to the team would make sense.
It is understood that Arsenal are ready to allow Ozil to leave on a free transfer and have already been negotiating on these terms, which would potentially enable Ozil to return to Spain for a minimal salary.
It is understood that Gunners manager Mikel Arteta has informed the German that there will be no way back in to the club's first team.
Do you think Ozil will stay in North London or head back to Spain? Discussions in the comments please.
