Arsenal pay £8m loyalty bonus to outcast Mesut Ozil

Arsenal paid £8m loyalty bonus to Ozil last month

Arsenal outcast Mesut Ozil has reportedly received an £8m loyalty bonus from the north London side despite not playing a single minute since March.

The German went completely out-of-favour under Mikel Arteta in Project Restart last season and things have remained the same this term.

The club have tried him to offload him with interest from Saudi Arabia, but the midfielder is adamant that he will honour the last year of his contract.

According to The Athletic, the Gunners were recently forced to pay an £8m loyalty bonus to Ozil for staying for the final 12 months of his deal.

The capital outfit are, however, saving some money on appearance bonuses by refusing to play him in any competition.

Ozil was recently omitted from the club's Europa League squad and he is expected to be excluded from the Premier League squad later this month.

Aside from Ozil, Sokratis also has no future with the Gunners. The Greek's contract expires at the end of the season.
