Serie A giants Juventus have reportedly leapfrogged Arsenal in the race to sign Lyon midfielder Houssem Aouar.

The Frenchman was touted to join the Gunners during the recent transfer window, but the negotiations broke down before the deadline.

The north London side were determined to sign the playmaker, but their final transfer offer of £35m fell below Les Gones' £50m price tag.

Hence, the deal never materialised and Aouar recently insisted that he is happy to stay at Les Gones and help them return to the Champions League.

According to Tuttosport, it is now revealed that the Bianconeri have moved ahead of the Gunners in the pursuit of the France international.

The Italian champions were keeping an eye on Aouar's situation this summer and it is reported that they will attempt to sign him in January.

That may come as a blow for the Gunners, who may not be able to afford Aouar in a couple of months unless they can recoup funds from player sales.
