United won't pursue Calhanoglu's signature

Manchester United have reportedly decided against the prospect of signing Hakan Calhanoglu from AC Milan next summer.

The Turkey international has less than eight months remaining on his deal and he is free to negotiate a pre-contract with an overseas club in January.

It was recently claimed that United could be prepared to double his wages as they look to lure him to Old Trafford at the end of the season.

This has, however, been refuted by The Athletic, who report that the Red Devils have declined the chance to sign the ex-Bayer Leverkusen man.

Calhanoglu's agent recently discussed the player's future with chief negotiator Matt Judge, but the club have decided against pursuing his services.

Calhanoglu has made an impressive start to the current season with four goals and four assists from nine games in all competitions.

The majority of those contributions have come in the Europa League. In the Serie A, he has managed only two assists from six matches.
