Chelsea wanted to sign former Arsenal goalkeeper
Chelsea were interested in signing former Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny during last summer's transfer window.
The Blues were actively on the search for a new shot-stopper last summer and they eventually signed Edouard Mendy from Rennes.
According to The Telegraph, Szczesny was an option for the west Londoners, but the Pole would have rejected the transfer.
Szczesny has established himself as the number one with Juventus and he would not have been interested in a return to London.
The Poland international joined Juventus from the Gunners in 2017 and he has since kept 53 clean sheets in 129 appearances.
Meanwhile, Mendy has proved an excellent purchase for the Blues and he has kept more clean sheets than goals conceded this term.
In his 32 appearances in all competitions, he has managed 20 shutouts while conceding only 18 goals in the process.
He missed the internationals for Senegal this month due to a dental operation, but is likely to return for Premier League action this weekend.
