Liverpool to compete with Arsenal for 23-goal striker?

Liverpool could compete with Arsenal in the race to sign Patson Daka from Red Bull Salzburg during the summer transfer window.

The Zambian has been in superb form for the Austrian champions this term, registering 23 goals in just 19 league outings.

His progress has caught the eye of the Gunners, but The Star claims that they could face stiff competition from the Reds.

Despite Saka's development, Salzburg may have to sell him on the cheap with a release clause of just £17m on his existing contract.

A number of clubs in La Liga and Bundesliga are also keen on landing his signature, particularly after the success of Erling Braut Haaland.

Daka is likely to want assurances of regular playing time to join a bigger club and it remains to be seen whether he is lured to England.

Salzburg have developed plenty of young players over the years and they most recently sold Dominik Szoboszlai to RB Leipzig.
