Ibrahima Konate reacts to Liverpool transfer link
RB Leipzig defender Ibrahima Konate has dismissed the recent speculation linking him with a summer move to Liverpool.
The Athletic recently claimed that the Frenchman was set to join the Reds after they decided to trigger the £35m release clause on his contract.
However, the story was quickly dismissed by sporting director Markus Krosch, and Konate has now clarified that there has been no contact.
The centre-back has had a tough season with injuries, and he is currently not a guaranteed starter with the vast competition for places.
However, the departure of Dayot Upamecano this summer should free up a spot. Konate has emphasised that he has 'big goals' with Leipzig.
He told Bild: "There are often rumours in football and many believe them immediately. I or my agents did not get a call from Liverpool. I also have big goals with RB Leipzig."
Aside from the Reds, Manchester United and Chelsea have also been linked with the services of Konate, who has made 92 appearances for Leipzig.
