Villarreal president open to Pau Torres sale

Villarreal president Fernando Roig has confirmed that the club are open to parting ways with Pau Torres during the next transfer window.

Torres has been a key player at the heart of the club's defence, and he recently starred in the Europa League final win over Manchester United.

In an interview with El Transistor, Roig has now revealed that the club are open to selling Torres, but he won't come on the cheap.

United have been keeping tabs on Torres over the past few months, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer eyeing a left-footed centre-back.

Manchester City have also been credited with an interest, though they are unlikely to guarantee the defender with regular game time.

Torres has a release clause worth €60m on his contract, and Villarreal are likely to demand a fee close to the figure.

They are back in the Champions League next season, which will provide them added revenue to recover some of their losses.
