Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur must pay €60m to land Atalanta star

Atalanta set price tag for Cristian Romero

Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur must pay around €60m to sign Atalanta centre-back Cristian Romero this summer.

The Argentine joined the Serie A outfit on loan from Juventus last summer with the option to buy for around €16m.

The Bergamo club are expected to trigger the clause, and they are open to selling him for a significant profit.

United and Spurs are keen on the Argentine. Calciomercato claims that they must pay at least €60m to prise him away.

United have Raphael Varane as their priority target, but there are no assurances that they can lure him from Real Madrid.

Madrid have a sour relationship with them following the failed David de Gea saga, and they could reject any approach.

Romero may emerge as the alternative for the Red Devils, but they won't receive any discounts from Atalanta this summer.

United signed Amad Diallo from the club last year. They could have the edge over their rivals in case they meet the price tag.

Elsewhere, Spurs are in advanced talks to sign Bologna's Takehiro Tomiyasu for £17m. They may not make a huge outlay on Romero.
