Varane signs for United

Manchester United have confirmed their third signing of the summer transfer window in Raphael Varane.

The Red Devils reached an agreement to sign the centre-back last month, but an official announcement was delayed.

After a period of quarantine, he recently underwent a medical. The club still needed to sort out his image rights.

He was officially presented to the United fans ahead of their 5-1 rout of Leeds United in the Premier League today.

Varane has put pen-to-paper on a four-year deal. The Frenchman's contract could be extended by another 12 months.

He has already started training with the club, and could make his debut when they travel to Southampton next weekend.

He has become the club's third signing of the summer after Tom Heaton and Jadon Sancho, who made his debut earlier today.

United are currently top of the league standings on goal difference. They produced a dominant display against Leeds.

The game was closely fought in the opening half with a slender 1-0 lead. Leeds equalised shortly after the interval.

However, the Red Devils dominated the proceedings thereafter to secure a comfortable 5-1 triumph over his old rivals.
