Amorebieta to snub Premiership

Athletic Bilbao defender Fernando Amorebieta will not leave the club, despite interest from several clubs including Premiership giants Liverpool and Man Utd, and apparently Spanish rivals Valencia.

"It is positive for me but it is not really in my plans to leave Athletic. My future is here and I want to progress as a player," he said.

"I have heard rumours since last summer but nobody has formally contacted my club. Athletic decide my future and that has not changed."

Fernando Amorebieta is valued by his club at around £5 million, and could still represent Venezuela or Spain as he has yet to decide on his citizenship.
