Matthijs de Ligt open to Chelsea transfer?

De Ligt on his way to Chelsea?

Juventus defender Matthijs de Ligt would welcome a move to Chelsea during this summer's transfer window.

The Netherlands international has been with the Bianconeri for the past three years, but he is now eyeing a new challenge.

According to Sport Mediaset, the centre-back is preparing to leave the Turin giants as he has no plans to renew his contract.

Meanwhile, the Bianconeri are only open to sanctioning his sale for the right price as they look to lower their wage bill.

De Ligt is the highest earner at the club at nearly £10m per year, and the club are open to the possibility of him leaving.

He has a release clause worth £105m on his existing deal, but the Serie A outfit are willing to sell him for around £84m.

The Blues have the financial firepower to meet the fee. It has been reported that the board are willing to pay big for De Ligt.

Barcelona have also been linked with him, but may not afford to meet his wage demands amid La Liga's imposed salary cap.
