Arsenal midfielder's move to Serie A club collapses
Arsenal midfielder Lucas Torreira will return to the club this summer after his proposed move to Fiorentina collapsed.
The Uruguay international spent the previous campaign on loan with the Serie A outfit, making 35 appearances in all competitions.
It was anticipated that they would look to sign him permanently with a £13m buy option, but that has not been the case.
Torreira has reportedly blamed some Fiorentina officials for the decision, and he may now pursue another new challenge.
The 26-year-old's current deal with the Gunners expires in June next year, and a permanent exit seems realistic this summer.
A number of other Serie A clubs were interested in Torreira last year, and they could come forward for his services.
The Gunners may need to lower their valuation as they are no longer in a strong position to negotiate for his exit.
It has been suggested that they could reduce his price tag to around £10m to invite offers from any interested clubs.
