Man Utd to hijack Arsenal's move for Lisandro Martinez?

Manchester United are prepared to compete with Arsenal to sign Ajax defender Lisandro Martinez this summer.

The Red Devils are determined to sign a new centre-back during the ongoing transfer window and were linked with Jurrien Timber last month.

Erik ten Hag played a key role in the 21-year-old's breakthrough at Ajax, but he is reluctant to leave the club with his World Cup spot on the line.

Due to his stance, United have now turned their attention towards teammate Martinez, who was named the club's Player of the Year last term.

Arsenal recently made a verbal proposal of around €30m for the Argentine, but Ajax made it clear that the defender won't be sold this summer.

Despite this, the Gunners are planning a renewed attempt, but they are now set to face stiff competition from the Red Devils for the 24-year-old.

Ten Hag knows Martinez for the past three years, and believes his presence at Old Trafford could provide United with a potential transfer boost.
