Arsenal ready to pounce for Tielemans deal on deadline day
Voices within the Arsenal camp believe that a deal could be struck for Belgium international Youri Tielemans on transfer deadline day, after the talented midfielder's absence from the club's starting eleven in a 2-1 defeat to Southampton last weekend signalled that the Foxes are ready to sell. With just one year remaining on his contract at the club, Leicester City will likely sell Tielemans on transfer deadline, and the Belgian is desperate to move to Arsenal.
The Gunners are looking to sign Tielemans to add to their squad of young talents, with the Belgian, 25, having already played 110 Premier League games despite his young age. Coming through the ranks at Anderlecht, for a time Tielemans was considered the best young midfielder in the world. A transfer to Monaco followed, and then a loan move to the Foxes in 2019. Leicester then opted to sign the midfielder on a permanent basis.
According to sources close to the player, Tielemans only has heart set on a move to the Emirates Stadium, and even in the event of last minute interest from other potential suitors such as Chelsea or Man Utd, Tielemans would turn their interest down.
Arsenal director of football Edu is already locked in negotiations with the Foxes and it is likely that a deal worth around £30 million will be agreed, most likely on transfer deadline day, as the club's valuations for the player appear to be off.
