Chelsea want to sign Bundesliga winner next year

Benjamin Pavard news

Pavard to Chelsea next summer?

Chelsea have plans of signing Bayern Munich defender Benjamin Pavard at the end of the campaign, Bild report.

The west London giants were heavily linked with the Frenchman this summer, but a deal never materialised.

However, they are plotting an approach for him next summer, considering his contract expires in June 2024.

Bayern are yet to convince him to pen an extension and this could likely pave the way for his summer departure.

Chelsea consider Pavard as a versatile defensive option, who can play at either right wing-back or in central defence.

Pavard has been the regular right-back for Bayern since joining them, but has the desire of playing as a centre-back.

He should get sufficient opportunities in that position at Chelsea, given they tend to constantly play with a back three.

Pavard was valued at around €35 million this summer, but his price tag could drop next year due to his contract status.

Aside from Pavard, Chelsea are also keen on landing RB Leipzig centre-back Josko Gvardiol at the end of the season.
