Barcelona are reportedly aiming to beat Chelsea to the services of AC Milan attacker Rafael Leao.

The Portuguese winger was superb in the 2021/22 season with 11 goals and 10 assists from 34 Serie A matches.

He has kept up his form this campaign, registering seven goals and nine assists from 20 games before the break.

Leao is currently part of Portugal's squad at the World Cup in Qatar, but could be on the move on his return to Milan.

According to Calciomercato, Leao could be sold by the Rossoneri this winter amid his reluctance to pen a new deal.

He has no plans to extend his contract expiring in June 2024, and Milan could look to sell him for a substantial fee.

Chelsea were willing to offer £62m for him last summer, but Milan are looking for at least £87m in the New Year.

The Blues could make a fresh approach but they may need to be wary of Barcelona, who are also interested in Leao.

The Catalans beat Chelsea to the signings of Raphinha and Jules Kounde during the last summer transfer window.
