Chelsea ready to finalise transfer of French star

Chelsea are ready to finalise the summer transfer of Christopher Nkunku from RB Leipzig, according to reputed journalist Fabrizio Romano.

The west London giants agreed personal terms with the Frenchman earlier this campaign and they are now set to confirm an agreement.

The 25-year-old has already undergone his medical with the Blues and it is claimed that negotiations are underway over the fee.

Chelsea have the option of triggering his €60m release clause next summer, but they prefer to pay the fee over an extended period.

Hence, they are ready to pay more for the Frenchman and Romano reports that the Blues will soon announce a deal with Leipzig.

It was previously claimed that the London side could attempt to sign him this winter, but that possibility is no longer on the cards.

Nkunku is currently on the sidelines with a serious knee injury and Chelsea are prepared to wait until next summer to sign him.
