Chelsea favourites to beat PSG to Bundesliga star

Chelsea have moved ahead of Paris Saint-Germain in the race to sign RB Leipzig defender Josko Gvardiol next summer.

The London giants are long-term admirers of the Croatia international and they are now in pole position to land his signature.

According to L'Equipe, the Blues have opened talks with Leipzig with a view to finalising an agreement for the centre-back.

The Premier League side are prepared to let Gvardiol continue with the German club until next summer before joining them.

Gvardiol currently has a release clause of around €45m which becomes active in July. The Blues are ready to pay a higher fee.

Apart from the Croatian, the Blues are also on the cusp of landing Christopher Nkunku from RB Leipzig in a similar kind of deal.

Nkunku has developed into one of Europe's most fearsome goalscorers and the Blues seem to have won the race to land his services.

Chelsea could seriously challenge for the Premier League title next season.
