West Ham United are reportedly interested in signing Manchester United defender Harry Maguire on loan for the season.

The England international has been used sparingly by manager Erik ten Hag throughout the Premier League campaign.

The central defender is currently a regular on the bench and The Mirror claim that the Hammers are eyeing a loan deal for him.

Raphael Varane, Lisandro Martinez, Luke Shaw and Victor Lindelof are currently ahead of Maguire in the pecking order at United.

It is unlikely that Maguire will start games regularly in the coming months, but manager Erik ten Hag may still decide to keep him.

United are the only English club alive across four competitions and Ten Hag may want sufficient depth to avoid potential injuries.

With Varane being injury prone throughout his career, Ten Hag may not want to weaken the squad by letting Maguire leave.

Hence, he could be blocked from signing for the Hammers this month. He may have to wait until the summer to move on from the club.
