Chelsea want to sign Barcelona midfielder on loan

Chelsea are reportedly keen on landing Barcelona midfielder Franck Kessie on loan this month.

The Blues are determined to pursue a holding midfielder before the transfer deadline and they have been linked with many names.

Kessie has been one of their long-term targets and The Telegraph claim that they could make a late approach for his signature.

The Ivorian joined Barcelona on a free transfer last summer, but he has since struggled to cement a regular starting spot with them.

Kessie is prepared to fight for his future at the club, but the Blues are still hopeful of luring him to Stamford Bridge this month.

Chelsea are planning for the future and they are currently focused on signings that could stay for several seasons with them.

At 26, Kessie is in the prime of his career and could be seen as a replacement for Jorginho, who looks set to leave soon.

The Italian's contract expires at the end of the campaign.
