Anthony Gordon skips Everton training as Newcastle make bid
Everton's star attacker Anthony Gordon has missed training today as he seeks to force through a move to Newcastle United before the end of the January transfer window. Gordon has been linked with a transfer for more than one year, with Chelsea amongst the clubs reportedly interested, but with the Blues' signing of Mykhaylo Mudryk, it appears unlikely the Stamford Bridge side will make a fresh approach.
Gordon therefore is trying to push through a deal to St James' Park before the end of January, as the Toffees sit at the bottom of the Premier League table facing relegation crisis and are currently managerless, after Frank Lampard was axed earlier this week.
It is understood that Gordon refused to train on Wednesday without Everton's blessing, and now the club could be forced to sell the player. With a value of more than £50 million, Everton will not have a ton of offers for the player, but Newcastle are ready to match that fee.
Gordon only recently agreed a new contract with Everton in December, but is looking to rip up his deal in favour of a move elsewhere.
