Arsenal favourites to sign Serie A playmaker?

Arsenal are reportedly in pole position to sign Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic at the end of the campaign.

The Serbian has been one of the best box-to-box midfielders in Serie A, and he has been touted to leave in the summer.

The Gunners are long-term admirers of him and Corriere dello Sport claim that they have been in contact with his agent.

It is added that Lazio could be forced to sell him for around €40m as his contract expires at the end of next season.

Milinkovic-Savic, who has bagged six goals and eight assists this term, has made it clear that he does not want to renew.

Aside from the Gunners, Newcastle United are also in the running to land the Serbian but they are likely to miss out.

The Magpies have seen a drastic slump in league form in recent weeks and could miss out on Champions League qualification.

Milinkovic-Savic has also been on the radar of Manchester United in the past, but they seem to have cooled their interest.
