Lehmann linked with Villa

Arsenal goalkeeper Jens Lehmann - who is heading for the exit door this summer - has been linked with a move to Aston Villa as the club search for a replacement for Scott Carson.

It seems that Scott Carson will be returning to the club who own the rights to his contract, Liverpool, as Aston Villa are unable to pay the rumoured £9 million Liverpool require to allow Carson to leave.

Martin O'Neill has decided that a short-term solution may be the best answer for Aston Villa's goalkeeping crisis for next season, and Lehmann has emerged as an option.

Lehmann has always maintained he wanted to stay in the Premiership and in England where his family is very settled.
