Chelsea star to join Barcelona on a free transfer?

Chelsea star Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang could rejoin Barcelona on a free transfer this summer, according to Standard Sport.

The Gabon international signed for the Blues from the Blaugrana last summer and he was expected to lead their attack.

However, that has hardly been the case. The former Arsenal captain is currently deemed to surplus to requirements.

Chelsea are planning to offload him at the end of the campaign and it is reported that Barcelona want to re-sign him.

Aubameyang was hugely successful during his short-term spell with Barcelona, scoring 13 goals from 24 games.

This paved the way for his €12m move to the Blues last summer, but the decision has clearly not worked out for him.

Barcelona are now aiming to re-sign him on a free transfer and it remains to be seen whether the Blues agree to the proposal.

The London giants may want to recoup some funds from the 33-year-old, who has netted three goals in 18 games for them.
