Man Utd boss pressing to sign Barcelona star

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag is keen on signing Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong this summer.

The Red Devils boss attempted to land the Netherlands international at the start of the season but he had no plans to leave Camp Nou.

However, this has not ended the speculation over his future and Sport cite that Ten Hag will make a fresh move in the coming months.

De Jong was not convinced by United's project last summer, but the situation has now changed with the club on the up under Ten Hag.

The Red Devils recently won their first trophy in six years by winning the Carabao Cup and they are also alive in two more Cup competitions.

Meanwhile, the club are on course to return to the Champions League and this could be a driving factor to lure De Jong to Old Trafford.

United agreed to pay €85m to Barcelona in the last summer transfer window, but De Jong was unwilling to negotiate personal terms.
