Manchester United have been handed a boost in signing Bayer Leverkusen defender Jeremie Frimpong at the end of the campaign.

The Dutchman has been a top target for the Red Devils this year and they are expected to make a formal move in the summer.

Ahead of this, they have been handed a timely boost with Leverkusen having secured a potential successor for him already.

The Bundesliga outfit have today signed Arthur from America MG and he is expected to join him in the next transfer window.

His arrival should pave the way for Frimpong's exit and United are widely expected to make a formal bid for his signature.

Frimpong has been in stellar form for Leverkusen this campaign, bagging eight goals and providing nine assists in all competitions.

He has played in both the right wing-back and right-back roles and would be a superb upgrade on Diogo Dalot and Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

He could cost a fee in the region of €35 million this summer.
