Erik ten Hag open to long-term stay for Dutch star
Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has welcomed the possibility of signing Wout Weghorst on a permanent basis.
The Dutch international signed for the Red Devils from Burnley on loan in January and he has since started every game for the club.
Weghorst has benefitted from Anthony Martial's injury woes and Ten Hag has now opened the door to keeping him for the long-term.
He said: "Of course. I think he is doing a lot of elements really well. Wout is doing a really good job for us."
"He is the leader of the process in pressing, he starts the press and is very good in backward pressing."
Weghorst has caught the eye with his high pressing but he has been disappointing overall with his finishing in the box.
The Netherlands star has bagged just two goals and two assists from 19 appearances. Much more is expected from a striker.
With Anthony Martial now fit after a hip injury, Weghorst could drop to the bench in the upcoming games for the Mancunian side.
